Fert has been working in Georgia since 2011, in the Samtskhe Javakheti region, for the development of the dairy industry. On the spot, its main contacts are :

  • the GBDC (Georgian Business Development Center – Akhaltsikhe Office). A team of 7 people has been set up to train and advise farmers on veterinary and food aspects and on milk and cheese production.
  • Ertoba, a breeders’ association which was formed in 2014 on the basis of a few leaders working with the GBDC and which currently groups together about 50 breeders.

From 1 to 11 October 2019, ten Ertoba breeders and seven GBDC technicians came to France to better understand the diversity of professional agricultural organizations in the dairy industry.

The summary booklet is the result of the debriefing work done on return to Georgia by the 10 participating farmers and the 7 technicians who accompanied them. Together, they identified 10 key topics that marked them during this trip.
