From 5 to 16 October 2015, forty people working for Fert or professional agricultural organizations Fert partners in five sub-Saharan countries, met in Madagascar to get to know, discover and actions Fert and enter Fifata full foot in the new multicountry program TransFert.

Came from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Tanzania and France, technicians Fert or its partners OPA were warmly welcomed by their colleagues in Madagascar Antsirabe (Vakinankaratra region).

The program, dense and varied, allowed time in plenary – presentation of the actions in each country or intercultural knowledge management – but also many field visits and practical work in the thematic workshops.

These two weeks of consolidation have been the occasion:discover the various activities conducted with the Malagasy producers by sectoral organizations and members of various specialized organizations Fifata group (Ceffel, Cape Malagasy Fekama …); elected this producer organization took turns to ensure a presence of Fifata throughout these meetings;

  • to exchange and advance in the thematic reflections identified in the transfer program monitoring and evaluation, support and empowerment of OPA, training of leaders, managers and farmers relays, agroecology, agricultural consulting, integration of young people, post-harvest, access to financing and service economy;
  • to hold annual monitoring committee of the program: monitoring of activities in each of the five countries concerned, bring the perspective of producer organizations and guide future actions;
  • to strengthen the internal cohesion of teams Fert and with its partners.

Following these first meetings, everyone left with the feeling of belonging to a team Fert less compartmentalized and ready to increase the inter-country exchanges for the benefit of producer organizations together.

Ambitious, the gain of the transfer program is manifold.
This is to strengthen the operational actions accompanying IPOs in a performance improvement goal and farm incomes; prolong the action by reflections and capitalization work; strengthen cross between teams and actions; exchange with other development actors for a change of scale.
