Development of rural markets in the regions of Morogoro,Tanga, Iringa and Dodoma

Description

Carried out between 2002 and 2005, this action allowed creation of four wholesale markets in the agricultural production basins that feed the country’s major urban centres. In 2006, a new stage in this collaboration between Fert and Mviwata began. This involved continuing support for wholesale market management committees while reinforcing the direct impact of the action on farmers through the construction of two new rural markets, organising producers upstream from the markets, and developing services for farmers within Mviwata (sector studies, market information system, etc.) downstream from the markets.
