justify;\">Biochar is a stable plant-based charcoal obtained by pyrolysis of biomass (agricultural, forestry, or organic waste) heated to high temperatures in the absence or low presence of oxygen. Unlike coal intended for combustion, biochar is used as a soil amendment. Its porous structure gives it a high capacity for retaining water and nutrients, promoting soil biological activity and long-term carbon sequestration. Located in Andranobe, in the Vakinankaratra region, Ceffel has a 20-hectare experimental center that supports training, innovation, and learning through practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was at Ceffel that the first experiments on biochar were initiated in 2020, following training and international exchanges. Initial trials on vegetable crops have shown promising results, encouraging the gradual expansion of testing and the dissemination of the practice among the Fifata group&#8217;s farmer organisations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/section>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
