SOL & CIVILISATION Association (Soil & Civilisation)
![]()
The Soil & Civilisation association, developed since 1991 from the initiative of Raymond LACOMBE and Jean DUPUIS, is a place for expression, to put in coherence various approaches of the same question : the preservation of living territories, especially rural areas.
Whether it is on its own or with external partnership, Soil & Civilisation organises and animates task groups, debates, seminars and prospective studies about issues such as the way to deal with living material, the role of agriculture, the local governance, the economic development of rural areas.
At the request of some of its partners, Soil & Civilisation also supports or conducts experiments in the field.
All these works are the subject of regular publications which can be obtained either directly from the association or by visiting its website.

ICAR is an association created in 1999 by FERT and the Northeastern Regional Savings Bank of Credit Agricole, or Caisse Régionale du Crédit Agricole Mutuel (CRCAM), in order to develop rural microfinance. ICAR has been reinforced in 2004 by the CRCAM of the Reunion Island, the CRCAM of Centre Loire (Orleans) and in 2006, by the CRCAM of Aquitaine, the four CRCAM of Brittany through their Regional Union, and by the association “Crédit Agricole – Solidarity and Development” under the sponsorship of the National Union (FNCA).
From day one, ICAR has been a technical partner for the CECAM network (Agricultural Credit & Savings Bank) in Madagascar and, since 2004 and at the request of Madagascar’s Ministry of Agriculture, has been promoting the creation of new financial institutions in rural surroundings and reinforcing existing institutions.
Moreover, ICAR commands a network of experts whose skills cover the spectrum of specialities that are necessary for rural development in developing countries and for varied duties in the financial line : diagnoses, market researches, development planning and strategy, credits (political, procedures, analyses, risk assessment), sales actions, operational organisation, banking accountancy and management, financial analysis and engineering, training of mutual company executives and employees, inspection and internal control.
